HAVE THE TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST, ECWA DEVOTIONAL
MONDAY, 3 AUGUST
TEXT: MARK 8: 27 – 30
TOPIC: HAVE THE TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST
This passage presents a surprised discussion between Christ and His disciples. One may wonder why one asked such a simple question and why it should become difficult for the disciples to give a correct answer to the question. It is quite revealing that some disciples didn’t have the right answer Christ was looking for, despite His long relationship with them. And even Peter’s correct response was not for his natural knowledge but divine revelation (Matt. 16:17). Though the question appeared to be simple, the natural knowledge could not satisfactorily respond to it. Today, someone may consider it simple because he reads what the Bible recorded. However, even today, we may also claim to be Christians or believers for a long time but cannot explain who Christ is and how one has been saved. This is quite unfortunate! Every believer should seek to have the true knowledge of the Lord so as to effectively glorify and serve Him. Remember, one cannot serve God more than his knowledge of Him permits. Thus, the level of your knowledge is reflected in your life and service. Paul stated: “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering” (Philippians 3:10). Such knowledge should be right in your heart and not ordinary head knowledge.
QUESTION: Can you adequately share your knowledge of Christ with someone?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to keep growing in my spiritual knowledge, day by day.
